Do you ever find yourself doubting your design abilities? if so what do you do to overcome them?
Lately it's all I've ever been doing, unfortunately, especially when it comes to page layouts. Being in this program with so many talented everyday people makes me feel inadequate, which can be a bit disheartening. In order to combat this, I've been researching more successful designs and ideas that intrigue me to open my mind to things I would have never considered.
Have you pushed yourself out of your design comfort level?
Yes! Being in this program has been a big step toward breaking me out of my design comfort level. I love drawing and decided to elevate those skills through graphic design (hence my entry into the program). That said, I have enjoyed this journey and discovering new ways to push myself.
Are there any other design disciplines you want to give a try?
Not necessarily--I would love to master page layouts, most specifically magazine layouts. It is my greatest area of weakness and it would be the ultimate accomplishment for me to add page design to my repertoire.
Should I keep pushing myself to try illustrating for this project? or should I wait to try when there is no due date or dealings involved?
I think pushing yourself to work on it now, in addition to playing around with it at a later date, is a good idea. That way, you can say you've done it (with regard to finishing) and you can explore it more when its over to widen and explore your skill set.
