1. What kind of designer do you want to be, or what do you want to do
with this degree? Print, web, user-experience, book, magazine, all of
the above? Why?
I came into the program with the thought of gaining skills to be a professional print designer but I am not opposed to expanding my options. I really enjoy design but just want to make sure I am efficient in whatever I do. I am also interested in branding and corporate identities, especially want to be able to help non-profits and small businesses.
2. What kind of workplace do you want, ideally? Freelance, small shop, big agency? Why? How will you search for jobs?
I have been creating invites, post cards, flyers, party favors etc. for years so I wish to expand my business. My current clients are usually by referral but I do plan to search job boards when I am ready to expand. I am considering doing an intern somewhere after graduation because time just will not allow for it right now.
3. For those of who that have portfolios right now, did you build you own site or use a template like Behance? Or pinterest? Can anyone share links to great portfolios (yours or someone else's?)
I do not have a portfolio but looking forward to seeing what others post. I found a few interesting sites I plan to explore further and you may find them useful as well. Coroflot and Krop have job boards and portfolios and Dexigner has portfolios and other resources under different categories (ie. graphic design, print design, typography and so much more.)
