Re: Stepping away from the computer

In the long run, I think it's really helpful to start on paper before moving to the computer. I have a much easier time working through ideas by sketching them out first and comparing them side by side (and then drawing a giant X through the ones I dislike). That being said, I don't think every project requires elaborate sketches. Most of my career has been on the corporate side of the spectrum, and I've found that playing with layouts right in the program can sometimes be quicker under a tight deadline. For a logo design, or anything that requires illustration, I would definitely choose working on paper first.
