Re:Experimentation and Process

I've only been in the graphic design game since entering this program in 2012 and last semester's Words and Images was the first time I was introduced to a "process". It seemed simple at first...just organize your work and then start your design. What I did not realize is that I had to design from the start of the process until the very end. This is where I fell short in producing the work that I was fully capable of showing. I spent way too much time researching, and far too little time putting my thoughts onto paper. I spent money on the most interesting sketch book I could find and rarely used it!

What I have learned so far at the very least, is that I have to get started. A designers best note taking seems to be a doodle in the corner of the paper. I have to take more advantage of my doodling! (I'm giggling and what I just typed, but so I'm so serious at the same time) I do just as others have said-search google, Behance, and Pintrest. Experimentation is also essential to the process. Using organic material is a possibility. Maybe taking a moment to look into the sky and day dream. Inspirations can come from anywhere, but I just have to get started.

I still struggle with procees and I'm coming to realize that it is out of fear. My perfectionism clouds my ability to move forward and get the work done. Even with this blog, I went back and forth all week trying to provide the best response and here I am typing it in my car on my lunch break all because I just did not get started.
