Whataya think?

I'm feeling pretty good about it right now. I had U-Turn in the middle, but since the "the Making of a Killer text is bumped over more to the right due to the shears image, it made the group look uneven. The only thing I see now is that the images are causing a slight slope upwards to the right when viewed as a whole, but that's because of the double point on the open shears.

Where's my bourbon?...

I just darkened the tan/brown abit on U-Turn...the gray was getting lost at the top of the shear blade. I also bumped the movie title, movie date, and logo over just a bit to the left...i had forgotten to bring that in line with the other posters before my post. I contemplated adding the website and move ie, but I don't think I need it. At least not based on those posters displayed outside our classroom.

does "The Making of a Killer" take away from the images? I'm considering losing that text.

I'll be brief:

Your hand-made typeface looks cartoony and fun, to me that doesn't say "kill."

"The making of a killer" I'm not even sure what that means or why you use it, & the treatment of it doesn't work on all the posters.

Ever make a halftone? I think if you made images halftones they would work much better than what you have, they look pixelated and low-res. I would recommend making the black a halftone & overlaying that on the flat gray silhouette. It will give it that constructivism look you wanted way back when. Go back an look at some of that style of work, it should help you tie it all together & create an appropriate typeface.

The rifle looks like a WW2 rifle, the sword is different and the curved one looked accurate, this one doesn't. All 3 of the weapons look very different in regards to lighting and detail, that is an issue.

I also feel like you text could be larger, maybe swap placement? Oliver Stone where the titles are, perhaps?

Again, look at some work for a reference and stick with a style or approach, especially when you are doing an homage to an earlier technique.

DAMMIT. I definitely see what you see, and had doubts about some of those things, just had trouble articulating them. The sword actually is the accurate style sword, but too long to fit the curve on the page. I'll see if I can resole that tonight. I'll have to look up half-tone on the web. I have a few more expletives in mind, but not at liberty to shout them at work. I will definitely need a drink after class Thursday...hell, I need one now.

I think somewhere near step 15 they go into halftones.

If you do stick with the wording,
try flipping the hedge cutter and run the text along that flat edge, the curve side reveals some negative space that doesn't exist in the other two posters....
