New Project 3 Concept
I came up with a new concept for my posters. My theme is "the disintegration of a family," each film features a family or families that are slowly falling apart. These posters are really rough, but I would like to know if you think my concept is working. The first image is an allusion to the Tenenbaum's house on Archer Ave. and the bricks are falling out. The second image is an Indian cloth that is unraveling. In The Darjeeling Limited, three brothers travel across India to track down their mother. I still have a lot of work to do on this image, but do you think the theme is coming across? Do you think the cloth looks like it is from India? For my final poster I am going to make a tree consisting of a grassy texture, an allusion to the "lawn wranglers," a landscaping crew featured in Bottle Rockets. I also still need to make a typeface.

This is cool Meg. I wouldn't say the cloth looked Indian to me, it needs something that is distinctly from that style in the pattern. The bricks tree looks like the white page is on top of it, so maybe add something to make the bricks tree to make it jump off the page, like dimension. Maybe because there is some dimension to the grout and none where the bricks are missing it seems reversed.
Your concept is working, I like it a lot. Keep going.
Meg,
I love the concept. I also agree that the bricks need dimension...not too much though. Also, these two images are orangey. It sounds like the third will be green. Maybe maybe the indian cloth a different color?

Bob & Chris,
Thanks for the comments. Its good to know that the concept is working, now I just have to find the right textures.

I agree--the concept is great and you can make it work. For Darjeeling, maybe try taking your own photo of an Indian-patterned scarf or skirt if you have anything like that in your wardrobe.
